Unrequited love leaves a void, they say

May be, it does. For long enough.

But then there are things that fill the chasm

The books that you can’t read together

The movies that you don’t watch together

The sunrises that don’t wake you up together

The days that don’t lead to sunsets together

The words that ache and die on your lips

The love that squirms in your heart

The kisses that quiver on your lips

The tears that catch in your throat

All create blocks of shadows that go and die in that void

All melt and pour into that abyss

Till it closes up and moulds shut your heart.

Unrequited love leaves a void they say.

May be it does, for long enough

But have a heart, because, not forever.
